Why Fasting is good

If our body is full of stored up toxins from past dietary habits, a pure diet would not be sufficient to attain a pure, balanced state. To expect a pure diet to do that would be like expecting a clogged drain to unclog itself just because we stopped putting the things in it that clogged it up in the first place. That is where fasting comes in. For more information please refer to “Fasting Therapy”.

Fasting facilitates the elimination of stored up toxins. Normally, the body’s eliminative and digestive organs accumulate and eliminate. They are busy breaking down the food we eat, providing the body with nutrition, storing fat, eliminating food by-products and toxins, etc.  But when we start a fast, the body’s eliminative and digestive organs do not have new food to work with, so they turn to all the stored toxins, diseased cells, tumors, etc., and begin to break up and expel them. Fasting is not only beneficial to the physical body, but to the mental and spiritual aspects of your being also. More than diet, fasting can be a very spiritual experience that raises your consciousness. Fasting for health reason does not mean that you cannot eat or drink anything. Juice fast is the most effective way to restore health and rejuvenate the whole body.

Fasting is the first natural instinct when anyone is ill or injured but we ignore it. Even animal’s first instinct is to abstain from solid food until they are healthy. They instinctively know that the healing process will be much faster and more effective when it abstains from solid food that burdens its digestive tract. This instinct has always existed within the animal kingdom.

How Fasting Works

The body’s metabolism is a complicated procedure and it will take place whether we supply the body with food or not. The body will start releasing low-grade energy stored as fat, which will rapidly decrease body fat levels. After prolonged fasting (after first 3 days) since the blood always tries to keep its level of protein constant, it will keep these levels up by also breaking down inferior materials and all morbid accumulations of tumors, abscesses, mucus, stones, fat deposits, aged or dead cells, abnormal growth tissues and damaged tissue are burned as rubbish.

All eliminating and cleansing capacity of the eliminative organs – lungs, liver, kidneys, and skin is increased during fasting, and masses of accumulated toxins are quickly expelled. There may be bad breath, dark urine (toxins in urine may be 10 times more than normal during fasting), continuous and generous discharge is feces, skin eruptions, perspiration, headache, coated tongue, dizziness etc.

Fasting gives rest to digestive, protective organs of the body and after fast their working is greatly improved. It puts a normalizing and stabilizing effect on ALL the physiological, nervous (including blood-pressure), heart, and mental functions, all endocrine glands which are responsible for overall body.

Fasting of juice is very good because it will give the body a chance to heal itself without cutting down supply of nutrients. As juices of vegetables and fruits required no digestion and are easily assimilated directly into the blood stream – thus, they do not disrupt healing. Moreover, raw vegetables and juices are rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and trace elements which help to normalize bodily process & speed up recovery. Both vegetable, fruit juices are concentrated nutrition.

Is Juice Fasting Safe

Juice fasting is completely safe, even fasting only on water is safe. But complete fast without water is dangerous and should not be performed in any case. As per laboratory tests run by Dr. Lennart Edren in Sweden; when 11 and then 19 men walked a distance of 300 miles in 10 days while on total fast it was observed (under medical laboratory with all required tests) that no-one’s blood sugar, protein did not come down. Instead everyone improved.

Children, even infants, can also fast on juice without complications if the fasts are of relatively short duration. For infants 2-3 days, children 1-2 weeks depending on age. The need for infants and young children to fast on juice is rare.

How to come out of fast: It is very important otherwise beneficial effect could be totally undone.

  • Do not overeat and chew extremely well.
  • 1st day, eat apple or other sweet fruit & little bowl of fresh vegetable salad with normal broth & juice menu.
  • 2nd day, add to the above some yogurt and cottage cheese.
  • 3rd day increase the portions a little and add some cooked vegetable like baked potato or vegetable coup.
  • 4th day, you can start eating normally.

Things to remember

  • Enema is very important during fasting i.e 2 times a day.
  • As a rule all drugs, vitamin & mineral supplements should be discontinued but in case of extreme weak patients: Take 1 or 2 tsp of natural honey.
  • Juices should be made fresh immediately before drinking.
  • Take enough rest and spend lot of time in fresh air. Sleep with open window.
  • You will feel hunger for the first 3-4 days. After that, the unbelievable will happen: the longer you fast, the less hungry you feel, until the time when the body has completed its cleansing work, at which time you will suddenly feel hunger – a reliable signal that it is time to break the fast and start eating.
  • Positive attitude is very important. Avoid negative thoughts and have total confidence in what you’re doing.
  • Fasting could be done from 30-40 days (with supervision); or 1 week to 10 days at one time (without supervision). It could also be done from 3 to 5 days.
