Faults causing Bondage >>> Problem and its Source

"Why are you so engrossed in worries? Why are you afraid of someone? Who may kill you? The soul is immortal; it neither dies nor takes birth."

"Why do you cry? What did you lose? What did you bring along when you were born which has been lost? What did you produce which has perished? It is here that you gain, and it is here that you lose. The man comes to; and goes from the world empty-handed."

"The present is here, and now, the past is irrecoverable, and the future will be good. Don't fret over the past, and don't be worried about the future. The present is going on."

What is a Problem

Problem/Pain/Misery is an alarm system indicating something is not balanced. What is the pain of lost objects, changed relationships, shifting emotions and thoughts, and deteriorating bodies telling us? One possibility is that it's the way how life is. We arrive here, strive to obtain whatever we need, and suffer pain in the process. End of story. That doesn’t make much sense, though.

e.g. [If someone felt pain in his foot, and the pain alerted him to an infection, would the person say, “Well, that’s the way it goes—have a foot, get an infection.” The disease would spread through the leg and kill the person. That’s not rational. The person would use the pain to identify an issue in his body that needed attention. He would see it as a problem that needed a solution. Life’s pain tells us that we incorrectly perceive our relationship to things, people, feelings, thoughts, and bodies.]

These pains indicate that we are not the body; we are Souls which is immortal. The source of all pains is the Ego (I am-ness). We are dependent on things, people, feelings, and bodies. We identify with them and are attached to them. When they go or change, we feel pain. These attachments, along with ignorance, are the source of the fear of death.

All problems can be solved because all these problems are self-created. As we are responsible for creating our problems, we have the power to be freed from these very same problems. If people become miserable, they want to be sad and make misery for themselves, and there is no remedy. Cleansing and purifying the mind means not being negative, positive, realistic, subtle, and practical. Don’t condemn yourself if you fail. When a child starts walking, it falls many times. That does not mean that the child will not get up and walk. We have all fallen many times in our childhood, but we are walking today.

All the problems we face are because of our mind, which is equipped as per our karma. We should go beyond the mind and karma by doing our duties skillfully and selflessly and remaining non-attached. In case of any conflict and problem, ask yourself three questions: "Could you let it go?"; "Would you let it go?"; "When?"

It is found that people cling to their problems, negative experiences, and limiting thoughts and beliefs.  When you tell them that all they have to do is let the issue go and it will no longer be a problem, they often refuse to do so.  They will enumerate why they can't let go of the pain.

3 Types of Problems

There are three types of problems in this world:

  1. Problems of Mind (Aad): These are the problems of the Mind and are the root cause of all other issues. Some mind problems are Desire, Anger, Greed, Attachment, and Ego.
  2. Problems of Physical Body (Beyad): These are all the physical issues that a man can face.
  3. External Problems (Upad): e.g. bad weather, bad environment, not having enough money, the tension of food, etc.

Source of Problems

The source of all problems and bondage is the Mind and Illusion. Mind is an obstacle for the ignorant and a means for the wise. It is the cause of both bondage and liberation. The mind is in direct control of the thoughts, senses, breath, and body.

Mind is always suffering with Hope, Cravings, and Worries. It is a bundle of Cravings. It comes in the way and creates many problems. Our mind is never free; it is always filled with some object, idea, thought, or emotion because of its previous karma. It is always going through opposing sensations all the time. e.g. Shall I do it, or shall I not do it? Conflicts arise in our minds because we do not know how to decide things on time (due to clouded intellect).

The mind has limitations and works within a specific boundary; Information received via the senses is shallow. Even during the waking state, we are not correctly utilizing the conscious mind because we remain either in the grooves of the past or in the tracks of future imagination; we do not know how to use the present. The conscious mind derives its thinking from un-consciousness and sub-consciousness; information from un-consciousness and sub-consciousness can help us better, but there is nothing in un-conscious and sub-conscious that we have not seen, thought, felt, etc.

As long as we remain within the fields of our conscious and unconscious minds, we can never enjoy life. Enjoyment comes when we are free from fears, and we will be free from fear only when we go beyond our minds. Our total mind wanders only within the boundaries of its own. We can go beyond. Mind is the fastest vehicle in this world, but it cannot run faster than the Soul because Soul is everywhere.

Be Present in NOW, it is passing away, as of now we can't change the past but could utilize the present to make our future pleasant.
